Sing The Same Song

If you know me at all, you know I like music. It is part of my life and it moves me.

I love getting to be part of the worship team at FCC. I don’t consider myself to be much of a musician, but more like the guy who is lucky enough to be on stage with the true musicians.

My favorite part of worship services is when everyone in the congregation is singing their hearts out, and the band stops playing, and hundreds of people are lifting their voice in unison to praise the one true thing worthy of our attention- our wonderful Creator.

I believe the most amazing instrument ever designed was the human voice.

Think about it, what other instrument has the ability to invoke so much emotion, good or bad, into the hearts of those who hear it? What other instrument can you think of that, the more of them that are played in unison, actually sounds better and more powerful?

Can you imagine a room full of 300 acoustic guitars playing the exact same thing? It just doesn’t make sense.

But imagine 300 people singing together to the top of their’s beautiful.

The problem arises, however, when everyone starts singing a different song. The beauty of it disappears quickly.

I have heard a lot of different songs being sung lately, and the noise is deafening. Everyone standing on their own platform hoping their song is the loudest. And it is breaking my heart.

My prayer this morning, for my church, for my community, for this world, is that we can all start singing the same song again.

Let us seek truth so we can speak truth.

Let us keep our focus upwards instead of outward.

Let us celebrate our differences and focus on our similarities.

We are His children, each and every one of us. And that is worth singing about.

God gave you a beautiful instrument. Play it beautifully.
