The Greatness of God

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

God is Awesome! He is the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe. He is showing off who He is. We can see His power and divine nature when we look around us at the splendor of creation. People try to paint these things and those paintings can be spectacular, but they still fall short of the majestic glory that we can see when we behold the magnificence of a sunset or the grandeur of something we treasure in the natural beauty around us.

Even more beautiful than the things around us is the plan of God's Salvation for us in Christ Jesus. A long time ago I heard a preacher give a message where He shared about the Greatness of God from John 3:16. I memorized the catchy little saying and wanted to share it with you today:

For God -- The Greatest Being

So Loved -- The Greatest degree of Love

The World - The Greatest Number to Love

That He Gave -- The Greatest Act of Love

His Only Begotten Son -- The Greatest Gift

That Whoever -- The Greatest Opportunity

Believes -- The Greatest Simplicity

In Him -- The Greatest Person

Should Not Perish -- The Greatest Deliverance

But -- The Greatest Difference

Have -- The Greatest Certainty

Everlasting Life -- The Greatest Possession

Nice and simple. But utterly profound. If you were the only person in the world, God would have sent His Son to die on the cross so that you could be forgiven and reconciled to Him. Today I encourage you to take a moment and reflect on the greatness of God and His love for us. Spend some time in thanksgiving and worship Him for how great He is and for His Amazing Grace.
