... "Do you believe in the Son of God?" He answered and said, "Who is He, Lord, that I may believe in Him?" And Jesus said to Him, "You have both seen Him and it is He who is talking to you." Then we said, "Lord, I believe!" And he worshipped Him.
John 9:35-38
Sometimes a moment of clarity comes in our lives after we have gone through a rough circumstance or when a significant event has happened. Sometimes these things can remove the cobwebs from our minds or allow us to to be open to something new. Transformation often comes after revelation.
We are still taking a look at the blind man in John 9. Jesus had miraculously healed him and then he was called in front of the religious leaders to explain what had happened. After some sharp words by both parties, he had been excommunicated. But Jesus wasn't done. He came and gave him the Great Revelation.
More important than being physically blind was that this man needed to know who Jesus was. He already thought that He was a prophet from God (9:17). He had stated simply to the religious leaders that Jesus could not have healed his blindness if He was not from God (9:33). So Jesus found him again and revealed Himself in direct words that He was the Son of God. The man was ready. He had been healed and then socially traumatized, but this was it. He fell down and worshipped Jesus. Let's be clear here. If Jesus had miscommunicated who he was, he would have stopped the man from worshipping him. Even angels made sure that men do not worship them (Revelation 19:10). A good man would not let anyone worship them.
But Jesus is more than a good man. He is more than a prophet. He is the Son of God! He is worthy of all worship and praise and honor and glory! He is the Alpha and the Omega! He is the First and the Last! This is the Great Revelation which transforms us! We finally and truly see how His love has opened our eyes to the incredible mercy and love of God in Him! And with the rest of the Host of Heaven we worship Him.
Blessings to you!
