Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
Proverbs 24:3-4
Treasures are much more than money and things. Each one of us has our own treasures in this life. We earnestly seek out those things that we value and hold it in high regard even if others don't like what we say is great. But God has something so much more for us. A.W. Tozer said, The man who has God for his treasure has all things in One.
This month we have been taking a look at Treasures in Heaven. We have been following along the sermon series by Pastor Ben James at FCC Grayson. So far we have looked at
Week 1: Chasing After the Wind - Ecclesiastes 4:6
Week 2: Broken Down Walls - Proverbs 25:28
Week 3: Thanksgiving to God 2 Cor 9:11
This week we will be looking at Beautiful Treasures. God wants beautiful things for our lives. He created us with wonders and glory. He made us in His very image and in His very likeness. (Genesis 1:27) When we disobeyed, we fell from His likeness and His image into brokenness and darkness. But in Christ we are being renewed in the very image of God (Colossians 3:10). And God now wants us to get His beautiful treasures! God's Treasures are not things that are going to pass away. God wants us to get Him! Finding God is the true search for finding treasures.
One of the treasures that God has for us is knowledge. Over and over again we are told to gain knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Those are the treasures of God! We are told that the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7), and that God is the source of knowledge (Proverbs 2:6). We are also
told to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 3:18). Knowledge is a beautiful treasure that will help us to to help others. That is what life is all about because that is a Beautiful Treasure.
Blessings to you!
